It is quite an interesting question whether moods can be considered as bad habits. Mood disorders are many. These and many other psychological disorders are considered as bad habits.

In fact, if you continue to stay in your present mood it continues. If you decide to imagine that you are happy, research shows that you may truly improve you mood in the bargain. This can not be considered as a rule, but some proof is there that people have power on their moods.

Moodiness, for instance, may be considered more than a bad habit by some. It could be bipolar disorder or other psychiatric problem. Nevertheless, some may consider it giving in to every mood which comes along. They have the bad habit of not attempting to have any power over their impulses.

Pessimism is another bad habit that can be seen as an indication of depression. But some still think it as only the habit of thought. They can console themselves by saying that pessimism is win-win situation. If things are ok you win, if they are not then still you were right, so you win. Such people can improvise on their mood by considering positive side of things to start with.

Worrying mood is like pessimism. The difference in the two habits is when you are worried you become so preoccupied that you fear forthcoming events. In case you have the bad habit of worrying, try and get yourself out of it, or get proper professional help.

Though codependency is not a mood, it can be considered as a state of emotion. It is a set of bad habit that instigates a dear one into harmful behavior. For example, you do not wish your son to be an alcoholic. Nevertheless, you always justify for his behavior to others. In case you wish him to improve, stand up and decide to put stop to your bad habit. He has to be responsible for his own actions.

If you are a hypochondriac, then you have an emotionally hurting bad habit. A hypochondriac needs psychological help.

The treatment given in such cases probably only helps the person to change the bad habit of the thought process. But they may find new ways of thinking about sickness or their own bodies. This may give them some power on their emotions.

If you are an attention seeker, you have a bad habit that you unlearn. This could connect back to something in your past. May be you did not get proper attention as a child because of some reason at home. You might have realized that by annoying means you get the necessary attention you are looking for. To break in this bad habit needs recognition of it and may be professional help too.

Bad habits relating to emotional state are normally hard to crack. You may need professional help to overcome them if you are unable to do so, on your own. The earlier you stop your emotional bad habits, the happier you will be.

By: Abhishek Agarwal

About the Author:

Millions of people around the world make new years resolutions each year. A very high percentage of them are in hopes of breaking bad habits that have seemingly overtaken their lives, but have left many disappointed, and realizing just how difficult breaking un-wanted habits can actually be.

To break bad habits one must first understand what they are and how they are developed in the first place. Until one can really understand how these habits are developed, they will never accomplish the task of getting rid of them. So I have personally put in thousands of hours to find effective ways in helping people get rid of what I like to call their “hook habits”, of which, I am now ready to share my conclusion with those who have an interest. So let’s get started.

What Are Bad Habits?

Bad habits are repetitious actions, deeds, and motives that have no profitable outcome for one’s life at all. In almost all cases, bad habits either do harm to a person’s body, causes them to look bad, feel shame, get in trouble with the law or their spouse, lose friends and love ones, or to spend a lot of money just to start the negative repetitious process all over again. It sounds like something someone would really want to be a part of huh? Well, don’t be surprised, there are millions of people throughout the world who are trapped, hooked and overtaken by bad habits, and some would do almost anything to get freed from them!

How Do People Develop Bad Habits?

Most people develop bad habits by practicing or emulating what they see or hear in others. People in general have a tendency to pick up a little “Character Development” from here and there, although often time, the very thing they pick up is definitely not what they need.

There is also a percentage of New Born Babies born with what I call “Fixations”. They are born with that something within that causes various behaviors not taught nor exposed to them, to manifest themselves in their characteristics at a very young age. For instance, you didn’t have to teach little Johnny to lie about the cookies he took out of the cookie jar when you weren’t around, although, you did ask him if he had taken the cookies, and of course, he said no. Did you teach little Johnny to tell that lie? No you did not, but it was in him all the time, he was born with it in him. But there is good news; all bad habits can be broken!

Surely most bad habits weren’t developed over night, and I can assure you that they won’t go away over night either. But those who take in the following information will surely find their way to victory over these un- wnated and un-needed habits:

Instead of making new years resolutions every New Years Eve, start making changes by replacing every bad habit with a better habit. That’s right! It’s just that simple. Most people try to go “Cold Turkey” when it comes down to breaking a bad habit. But I have found out in my personal experience, that if a person would find something they enjoy doing (that’s not a bad habit of course), and they don’t mind it becoming habitual, then that person should gradually replace the bad habit with the better habit until the better habit becomes the new habit. How is this task accomplish, buy simply being conscious of every time the bad habits manifest themselves, and then stopping the bad habits one by one immediately once noticed, while at the same time implementing the new things you enjoy doing until they becomes the replaced habits.

Sincerely written by,

Michael Bell

http://www.buymusicfromus.com

By: Michael Bell

About the Author:

If someone has bad habits at the workplace everyone suffers on the job. Bad habits can make surroundings unfriendly, unproductive and even insecure. But unfortunately you can only rectify your bad habits if you identify them and not others.

The most prominent of bad habit in the workplace is lethargy. Some people are habitually lethargic. They arrive late not only to work but also late from a break or lunch. This only puts them in danger of losing the job and also affects the output of the whole team or even office at times.

People get into the bad habit of absenteeism easily. The latest trend is accumulating the days off. Sick days, personal days and holiday days are clubbed together. Normally there are a fixed number of days off and the choice is yours as to when to take them. The problem with this method is many people have bad habit of utilizing the days off. They just take the day off whenever they want. Before they realize it all their days off are over. Then when they really in need a day off in crisis or sickness, they have no alternative but to take the day off without pay. During that time, someone else has to handle their workload.

People normally have bad habit of not doing paperwork. They do not keep a proper account of their expense report. They do not bother to keep bills and receipts required by their company. Then failing to keep proper mileage record accurately is another bad habit when they use company cars. This puts extra pressure on accounts department of the company.

Many people have a dislike towards paperwork. They have the bad habit of not submitting jobsite reports as required. In case they have special business reports to do they have the bad habit of not doing them on time.

Neat work space can help people do better work. Many people have problem of keeping their desks and office space neat and tidy. Certain organizations need to have piles of paper on their desks. But if the desk is full of crumpled fast food bags, half empty pop cans etc. it can only clutter the desk and cannot help anything.

People have the bad habit of losing things. They lose essential paperwork. The papers may pertain to critical contracts of an important deal the company is concerned with. Your bad habits can prove expensive to the organization.

People in mechanical kind of jobs can get into the habit of losing tools. They do not bother to pay attention when they put down their tools. When the finish their job and ready to gather their tools for the day, they do not recollect where they had put a particular piece, they do not even remember using it at all. Such bad habit amounts to tardiness in thought.

In case you wish to make a real impact at work, get hold of your bad habits. The way you do your work will reflect the habits you bring to the table. Only the good habits make you successful.

By: Abhishek Agarwal

About the Author:

Bad habits can take over your life. They can make you fail at work, school, and relationships. It is important to address these issues. Self help books are great for this. Here are a few.

The 12 Bad Habits That Hold Good People Back: Overcoming the Behavior Patterns That Keep You From Getting Ahead is a book by Waldroop and Butler. This book focuses on bad habits in the workplace. It explains how you can understand your own bad habits and learn new ways to relate to people. They suggest that doing this will help you to advance and prosper in your career.

James Claiborn, Ph.D. and Cherry Pedrick, R.N. have collaborated on a book about all habits. It is called The Habit Change Workbook: How to Break Bad Habits and Form Good Ones. This book follows a cognitive-behavioral approach to bad habits. It uses psychological principles to get to the root of bad habits. Then, it goes into great detailed steps of how to break them. It also tells about a group of people who have bad habits and explains how each one is conquering theirs.

What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do: Bad Habits and Addictions is a short book on the subject by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. It offers a religious perspective to those who feel overcome by their failings. It gives advice on how to find ways out of habits and addictions.

One book is a rather heavy read on the subject of addictions. However, it does offer some sound psychological advice. It is titled Changing for Good: A Revolutionary Six-Stage Program for Overcoming Bad Habits and Moving Your Life Positively Forward. The authors, James O. Prochaska, John Norcross, and Carlo DiClemente, work together to put together a system of coping with undesirable behaviors. It involves six steps, which are discussed in full.

If you have children you want to help, there is a book for you, too. It is called Good Kids, Bad Habits: The RealAge Guide to Raising Healthy Children. In it, Jennifer Tratchenberg discusses the kinds of habits children have as they are growing up. She gives insight into how these habits can follow them into later life. Then, the author helps parents set up a program that is designed specifically for their child. This will help the children to break bad habits.

Of course, what subject would be complete without an “Idiot’s Guide?” Suzanne LeVert has come up with the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Breaking Bad Habits. This book is a tremendous introduction on the subject of bad habits. At the same time, it does it with a sense of humor and warmth. Reading this book may not break your bad habit. However, it may put you in the right frame of mind to do it.

Self help books for breaking bad habits are very useful tools. They help those habituated to understand their problem behaviors and find ways to banish them. It always helps to have a second opinion. Reading these books on bad habits will give you advice that you would never think of on your own.

By: Arjun Singhe

About the Author:

Kids go through periods of having bad habits. Some of their bad habits are worrisome and some are just really annoying. Parents agonize over what to do about their children’s unacceptable behaviors. There are a few things they should know.

1. What you see as bad habits may actually be natural stages of child development. If your very young child is examining the lint between his toes regularly, you might think it is a bad habit. It might be, though, that the child simply finds toe lint interesting. The child will outgrow the fascination and the bad habit will disappear.

2. So-called bad habits may be ways for the child to soothe themselves. At times when they would ordinarily feel like screaming and crying, they may suck on their clothes instead. This makes them feel calm and secure.

3. Children may use bad habits to feel a sense of control over their environment. If they are dropped off at a daycare center for the first time, they may start having odd behaviors. This could be, for instance, rubbing the material of their clothing. As time goes by, if the daycare center continues to feel threatening to them, rubbing the clothing material could become a bad habit.

4. Kids sometimes do things adults see as bad habits that they do not understand. Sometimes, the kids are simply solving a problem. If their hands are cold, they may put them between their legs to warm them up. Adults often misinterpret this and overreact. If they knew the problem was cold hands, they might have a different solution to offer.

5. Shaming and punishment are the worst things you can do. If a child is doing the bad habits in an effort to soothe herself, making her feel bad is counterproductive. It will give her more to self-soothe about. This is why parents often become frustrated when trying to deal with a child’s bad habits.

6. Substituting more pleasant behaviors for the annoying or destructive bad habits can work better. You can teach your child to be aware of when they are doing a bad habit. Then, you can teach them another behavior to do instead. When they do, reward them.

7. Incentives work to help some older children get over bad habits. This is especially true if they are old enough to think in the long term of at least a few weeks. You can offer them a reward every day that they do not do their bad habits. By the time they have quit, they will have a large reward waiting.

8. Usually, the best thing you can do is to wait for the bad habits to go away all on their own. As long as you do not reinforce the bad habits by doing them yourself, the kids should grow out of them. Once they get older, their school mates will make it more attractive to them to stop doing their bad habits. Kids like to fit in.

The most important thing to remember about your child’s bad habits is that you should not be too alarmed. Only when they are destructive or dangerous is it essential for you to stop them immediately. Otherwise, be understanding and gentle when dealing with your kid’s bad habits.

By: Arjun Singhe

About the Author:

Everyone suffers when someone on the job has bad habits in the workplace. Bad habits can make for an environment that is unfriendly, unproductive, or even unsafe. You can only correct your bad habits in the workplace if you recognize them.

One of the most noticeable bad habits in the workplace is tardiness. Some people just have a habit of being late to everything. They are late to arrive, late back from break, and late back from lunch. This not only puts them in jeopardy of losing their jobs. It can affect the productivity of the whole crew or office.

Absenteeism is another bad habit that people can fall into easily. A new trend is to make all accumulated days off the same. Sick days, personal days, and vacation days are lumped together. You just have a set number of days off and it is up to you how you take them.

The trouble with this system is that too many people have bad habits about using the days off. They get used to taking off whenever they feel like it. Before they know it, all their days off are gone. Then, when they really have an emergency or illness, they have to miss work without pay. In the meantime, their workload is being handled by someone else.

People often have bad habits in the workplace when it comes to paperwork. They do not do proper accounting on their expense reports. They do not keep the receipts that are needed by their company. They fail to keep mileage records on their company cars accurately. This makes the company’s accounting department have to work harder.

Many workers have an aversion to doing paperwork at all. They have bad habits of not filling out jobsite reports as needed. If they do special business reports as requested, they may have bad habits about not turning them in on time.

Clean work spaces can help people get more work done. However, many people have bad habits when it comes to keeping their desks and offices neat. They may have a certain kind of organization if they have stacks of papers on their desks. Yet, if their desk is full of half empty pop cans and crumpled up fast food bags, it cannot help anything.

People often get into the bad habit of losing things. They may lose important paperwork. The paperwork may be critical contracts for a major deal the company is involved with. If your bad habits take over, you can cost the company everything.

People in other kinds of jobs can get into the habit of losing tools. They do not pay enough attention when they lay down their tools. When they get ready to clean up for the day, they have no recollection of where they put a particular tool, if they remember using it at all. This is a bad habit that amounts to laziness in thinking.

If you want to make an impression at work, get a grip on your bad habits. The way you work will be a result of the habits you bring to the table. It is the good habits that make you succeed.

By: Arjun Singhe

About the Author:

Are you suffering from any of the following habits: Overeating, Smoking, Alcohol, Procrastination, Losing your temper, Being a workaholic, Being late always, Negative thinking always. And are you fed up of trying to get over these habits with no success at all?

Then this article is for you. Keep on reading and discover an easy way to Change Bad Habits. Bad Habits are behavioral pattern that are repeatedly performed, which is affecting your growth in life or your health negatively. These patterns are acquired at some point in your life due to negligence or emotional issues. Once acquired, they are repeated during your life time and there comes a point when you cannot get out of this addiction.

Do not worry too much as you are not alone in having to Break or Change Bad Habits as the majority of the population in the world is addicted to one or more of the above repeated behavioral patterns. In the good old days Will Power was used to Break or Change Bad Habits, but to what extent was it effective is questionable. Still most of the people try to use will power or make resolutions to Break Bad Habits.

Behind what ever Bad Habit, there is always an emotional reason or past hurt involved. So without clearing this emotional issue or healing this past childhood hurt, using will power will not be effective at all in changing bad habits.

For example: take overeating, normally some one overeats in order to avoid feeling a particular emotion at that particular moment. If you dig deep and just observe your overeating habit, you may find that, you eat more in order to avoid feeling lonely, frustration, anger or some other feeling, which is the real reason behind overeating.

This being the case, however much you try to Break or Change Bad Habits using will power or resolutions will not succeed, until you address this underlying emotion first. Just feel the emotion fully and it will lose its power over you.

The easiest way to Break or Change Bad Habits is to keep your mind always relaxed. The more you can keep your mind quiet or without the mental chatter, the more you can have a relaxed and calm mind. Maintaining this state of mind is the best way to change or drop bad habits. When your mind is quiet and calm, you will never have anxiety or stress and when you do not have anxiety and stress, you automatically drop or changes bad habits. This may not happen overnight but with some practice it is definitely possible.

The most effective method to quiet your mind is to use brainwave entrainment technology. When your brainwaves are in Alpha and below, your mind is in a relaxed, calm state. Brainwave entrainment technology induces these Alpha and below brain waves and makes your mind calm and quiet.

The most effective brainwave entrainment program on earth today is the Brainev technology. The Latest Patent Pending Cutting Edge Technology known as 3-DEAP in Brainev makes it much superior to the other products out there.

By: Sudath Priyantha

About the Author:

A few of the bad habits are quite insensitive. The person having bad habit does not think about the person he is hurting. A wee bit attention towards the other person’s feelings will stop the bad habits in their pathway.

These insensitive bad habits can reach the kitchen too. Some people in the kitchen drink milk directly from the milk jug and juice from carton. It never occurs to them that others may not like to drink after them. They are so habituated doing it, that they do not even realize they are wrong.

Some people have the habit of opening two liter bottle of pop and putting the caps. This is insensitive to the person purchasing the soda because soda left in the bottle goes flat. No one can drink it. Another bad habit people often have is opening carbonated drink cans and take only a couple of swallows. Many people do this and then go for another can.

Refrigerator is another source of problem in some homes. There too people have bad habits. They take the food out of fridge and do not pt it back. They some times simply stand in front of the fridge with the door open undecided as to what to take out as the cold rushes out.

In case your refrigerator is older, they may have bad habit of not refilling the ice cube trays and leave them empty in the freezer compartment. Some people have the bad habit of being parasitical. The will clean your fridge of food in a jiffy if you are not watchful. Even if you do not offer them food they take the liberty of taking what they like.

Some times your roommates or somebody putting up with you offers to cook. In case they have a bad habit of not cleaning up the mess after they finish cooking, then you may not enjoy the dishes they cooked however tasty. After some time, you start wishing that they do not cook at all.

Another bad habit concerns bathroom. Some time, people take over the bathroom. They will not allow anybody to get in to utilize it. And if your timings clash with theirs then you will be reaching late to your workplace and not them. That is very insensitive.

Men have been told time and again, that their bad habit of letting the toilet seat up is careless. They do not understand that a woman, not assuming the seat to be up, can in fact, get hurt by falling in too hard. It is neither a pleasant topic nor a pleasant thing to occur.

Some other bad habits relate to vehicles. Some people are in a habit of leaving the car windows down. It they are used to this, and then they would be ready to roll them up knowing its going to rain. However, if you leave somebody else’s car windows down, then they might not be ready. Also, some people are in a habit of borrowing a car from a friend and not putting gas in it.

In case you consider other people every day, you probably will not be insensitive to their needs and you will realize that you are loved more if you manage your behavior and curtail your bad habits.

By: Abhishek Agarwal

About the Author:

Astrology is a very multifaceted subject, and same applies to bad habits. There are quite a few details to consider about a person when talking about their zodiac sign. Date of birth is one. Nevertheless it is fun to experiment with astrology and finding out the broad rules of astrology for the bad habits.

Capricorns are supposed to be relentless workers. Possibly this is the reason why they are considered to be workaholics. They are forced to get the work done now matter how much time it takes. Actually, they may not halt with the work at hand, but start another one instead of going home to relax by end of the day. It might help them to keep one appreciation journal to curb these bad habits.

Aquarius is a sign of independent people. In some ways it is a very good thing. Nevertheless, they have a bad habit of pushing people away from their lives. They like uniqueness, though close relationships involving a creative outlook are for them. The another main bad habit of people born under Pisces sign is alcoholism. The normal treatment for alcoholism applies to them, just as it does for anyone else. Such bad habits are a bit difficult to overcome.

Aries sign goes with selfish people. The best way for them to fight this is to start caring for another human being. Taurians flourish on clutter. Only thing they require is a little direction to get organized. However, both these are fairly harmless bad habits.

In case you are staying with a Gemini, they probably most of the time you will find yourself talking to the air. A Gemini has bad habit of not paying attention to people speaking to them. But at the same if you do not talk to them, sooner or later they will plead you to do so.

Cancerians are addicted to sugar. They can only be helped by replacing sweets with dried fruits. Their bad habits are based on oral satisfaction. Leos are full of themselves. They will continue their bad habit of blowing their own trumpet unless they learn to be diverse. They can do this by complementing others.

Virgos have habits that can be both good and bad. It depends as to how you interpret them. Virgos are perfectionists. Nothing is good enough for them. If you can manage to persuade them to lighten up and have fun, they can decrease these bad habits.

Librans love pretty things. They will be happy if they spend their time walking round the garden or visiting fine art museums. Normally, Librans go to the other extreme. They turn shopaholics to satisfy their urge to be around pretty things. These are expensive bad habits.

Scorpions can have the bad habit of getting angry and holding on to it for a long time. Getting a massage will be helpful to cool down their anger. Lastly, there are Sagittarians. Problem with these people is that they go overboard with truthfulness. To overcome this habit they just require learning a little kindness and tact.

May be these similes do not apply to you, a detailed study of your horoscope may show something more or you may not have faith at all. However finding your bad habits and overcoming them will make your life happier.

By: Abhishek Agarwal

About the Author:

When I practiced full time as a clinical hypnotherapist, a man came into my office wanting to lose a lot of weight. He introduced himself as Jim. He looked beaten down. His shirt missed a couple buttons, and I saw tangles throughout his oily, shoulder length hair. He still had morning breath at 2:15 PM.

Jim explained to me that he had already undergone a quadruple bypass, and his doctor said that if the weight didn’t go he would die soon. He was also scheduled for his third knee surgery the following week.

He told me about all the weight loss programs that had failed him. He read every book ever published on weight loss. He probably knew more about losing weight than most personal trainers and weight loss advisors.

Still, there he sat, all 300-plus pounds of him. Even though his life literally depended on it, he was unable to keep off the weight. All his knowledge of caloric intake and how much activity it takes to burn a pound of fat didn’t help him one bit. Jim was dying.

He viewed coming to see me as a last ditch effort to save his life. He didn’t believe in hypnosis, he said, but he’d stopped believing in almost everything else, too. There was nothing left for him to try.

Because of his opinion on hypnosis, I used that tool very sparingly. Instead, I focused on getting him to open up, which he did. I learned that not only did Jim have poor eating habits, almost every habit in his life, it turned out, affected him in a bad way.

Our work together lasted about 8 weeks. We focused on making very small changes to Jim’s daily routines. We interrupted his patterns and created new habits. Instead of pizza 4 nights a week, he would only have it 3. Rather than sleeping 12 hours, he’d sleep 10.

By the end of the 8th week, Jim had not lost a pound. He did, however, learn how to create new, healthier habits. He learned he was not a slave, chained to his comfort zone, and that by incorporating the habits he had learned into his life, these became his new comfort zone.

The last time I saw Jim, he caught me off guard. We were at an art gallery. He walked up, shook my hand, and started laughing. “I get that a lot,” he said, seeing the puzzled look on my face. I almost cried when I recognized the man before me.

I’ve heard it said that the difference beween successful people and unsuccessful people are their habits. Nowhere is this more true than in network marketing. When we talk about habits, we usually refer to bad habits. We build habits by repeating action. This action, however, can be bad or good, helpful or hurtful.

To hear some people talk, you would think that habits just happen without our control. Did you ever try to break a habit? It can be a difficult and painful thing to do, but with a strong enough commitment, it can be done.

If habits are so powerful, imagine creating a beneficial habit, like a new work habit. How would it be if your prospecting tasks became automatic, like brushing your teeth? Consistency is the hallmark of a stable person. Habits create this consistency.

How do you create a habit? One word: Repetition. Repetition is the mother of all skill. If you repeat an action every day for 30 days, you create a habit. This is true whether your goal is exercise, business, or personal.

To be truly effective, start small. Instead of vowing to call 10 prospects a day, start with 1. If you can’t dedicate 3 hours a day to your business right now, start with 15 minutes. Small, consistent steps over time create huge, long-lasting results.

You must develop confidence as your primary habit. Without knowing that you have something of value to provide your customers and business associates, everything else falls flat. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will, either.

You develop confidence with small, private victories. If you commit to contacting 1 prospect a day, and keep that commitment, your confidence grows. If you increase that to 2 a day, it gets even stronger.

Discipline also ranks high on any list of habits. Discipline simply means the ability to get necessary actions done. It means taking the steps, regardless of how you feel or what’s going on in your life, to insure that you will be successful.

In the US Army, my drill instructors pounded discipline into my skull. Being sick was irrelevant, because the enemy wouldn’t care if you were sick or not. They’d just kill you. The same if you were tired, or just found out your wife was leaving you (this happened to a few guys in my platoon).

You could cry all you wanted, but the drill instructors knew the ingredients of success. Whether that success happens on the battlefield or while working on your business, you still need the same habits. Rain or shine, you simply must take action.

Drill sergeants also taught me motivation. Motivation is very similar to discipline, only it require more emotional input. To exercise discipline, you need a certain amount of motivation. Believe me, when you’re cold and wet, you need motivation to climb the muddy hill in front of you.

An enemy chasing you would provide such needed motivation. For me, it was a drill sergeant with biceps big around as my waist, yelling at me. I would probably have done anything this person told me to do.

As scary as my Army experience was, today I hear my own inner drill sergeant yelling, “You better make them calls, you airhead!” It still motivates me today, even though I’m warm and dry.

You maintain motivation by reminding yourself why you do what you do. For me, motivational cd’s do the trick, especially while I’m driving. I also read books on success and self improvement. Ten to twenty minutes a day is all it takes.

Your habits determine where you’re going. Take some time now, right now, as you read these words, and examine your habits. What do you habitually do every day? If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten. Is that satisfactory to you?

By: Gregory McGuire

About the Author:
